Henry's Blessing

Henry's baby blessing was a tender experience (almost a year ago now!).  I of course meant to record this months ago, but haven't done so. I asked a friend of mine in the ward to jot down what was said so we could record it for our family history. We don't have an exact transcript of the blessing, but here are some of the main thoughts and blessings that she recorded. I'm so grateful to have this and remember the powerful and tender feeling that attended that blessing. We are so honored to be your parents, sweet boy. We're excited to see what wonderful things you will do and be.

• You were chosen to come to the earth in a time when there is great conflict and trouble. But there is also much goodness. You are part of that great goodness. 
• You were blessed with courage and strength amidst trial and tribulation
• Counseled to be faithful to Father in Heaven and committed to Him in mind and heart
• Make it your goal to return to Him
• Blessed to receive the priesthood – prepare to act on what you are foreordained to do
• Blessed with compassion for others. Seek those others have forgotten – uplift and strengthen them, see Christ-like attributes in them. 
• Blessed with a love for mankind
• Create strong bonds with your family
• Remain close to your mother – she will be a source of strength. Draw upon your relationship with her throughout your life. 
• You will have a strong bond with your sister and will have much joy with your relationship with her. Stay close to her and rely on each other throughout your lives. 
• Exemplify the life of Christ. Help others to come to Him
• Blessed with sound mind. Seek good learning and a higher education.
• Blessed with a strong and healthy body and will grow in a natural form
• Counseled to adhere to the Word of Wisdom – will be a blessing of heaven because of your obedience to that law. 
• You have been given many gifts and talents to perform the will of Father in Heaven on earth
• and you are encouraged to do such.
• You will find joy in life and happiness
• Be a student of the scriptures and gospel and teach it to others
