Fall Whirlind
This Fall was quite a whirlwind. Here are a few of the highlights through pictures.
I started working on Halloween and went on a business trip to Seattle a week later.
I had next to a million internal breakdowns during the first few weeks of work just trying to figure out how to balance commutes, late hours, dinner, cleaning the house, exercising, and living an overall balanced life. Thanks to some organization and a whole lot of simply chilling out on my part, I think we're now into a good routine.
My friend Ali and her husband came to stay with us. It was so good to see her again and show her around a few spots in New York.
I took the Chinatown bus to DC to visit Maren and her family. I loved taking pictures of them. I'm so glad I'm finally in the same hemisphere as some of my closest friends. You can see some of our pictures of her little ones here.
For Thanksgiving this year we woke up early and headed over to Central Park West to watch the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. Our good friends Charity and Tim joined us. I may or may not have stretched the truth a little to convince the police officers to let us into the front of the parade. Later we had dinner at the ward Thanksgiving potluck with church friends. It wasn't quite the same as the beautiful festivities that my family enjoys together, but we enjoyed it just the same. It's so wonderful making new friends in new places.

The week after Thanksgiving my cousin Katie and her husband Kasey came and stayed with us. Katie and I played together when our pants still had the 6X label and our knee caps were the biggest spots on our legs. She and her sisters were our favorite cousins and we absolutely loved playing together. But as we grew up and got busy with school, extra-curricular activities, etc. we hardly saw each other. We basically missed each other's adolescences and early adult lives. Pretty sad looking back on it...
So it was so fun catching up, laughing, and realizing that even if we weren't family, we'd be really good friends. We ate out a lot, shopped in SoHo, showed them around Times Square, laughed so hard our stomachs hurt at Rockefeller Center ice rink, made one too many trips to Magnolias, and walked the Brooklyn Bridge. Blair and I adored spending time with them. Now we're just hoping some of our other long lost cousins will make the same trip!
The photogenic couple...I mean seriously.
The not so photogenic couple...
Our last visits were from Maren and Ryan. Yay! Ryan had a business trip to New York, so we were able to have them over on Sunday night for dinner and then meet up another night after work for dinner and New York City roaming.

I am glad you have found a balance in life. I think that's my biggest challenge. Teach me some organization skills?
I love that picture up there of just you & Maren. I have beautiful friends.
