Biting Monkeys & Non-compliant Turtles
What have the Willis's been up to you ask? Well, after we said a few depressing goodbyes to all of our friends who left the island this last week, we decided to get out in nature. We went for a hike up to Seven Sisters with the Richards and Zach. This is at the end of our hike, after we survived the torrential rain-forest downpour and jumping off waterfalls. Sidenote - Stef and I watched as the guys jumped off the waterfalls. Her excuse is she has a two-year-old to take care of. I'm still trying to find an excuse for being such a royal wimp.
After the hike, we stopped alongside the road at Grand Etang to check out the monkeys.
As Blair walked back from this little shop carrying a few bananas, three monkeys attacked him and demanded that he turn the yellow gold over. This picture was snapped right after the attack. Blair looks pretty traumatized in this picture. He's been in the fetal position for days.
This situation only got worse when this little monkey jumped on Zach's back and bit him on the arm. A nice lady informed us that these monkeys don't have rabies...I must say we weren't exactly comforted.
After we recovered from the tree-swinging assailants, we decided to head to the northern tip of the island to see a calmer species...namely the 9 foot leather-back sea turtles. Unfortunately, the turtles decided to go on strike the night we ventured up to their beach. Not a single turtle came up on the sand during the four hours we waited there!
I just had to include this last picture of Emma and Blair. We're kind of in love with this little girl. The only thing that makes being away from our nieces and nephews bearable is having friends with adorable children. We're trying to brainwash Emma into calling us Uncle Blair and Aunt Ashley. We think we've almost got her convinced we're actually related to her :)
