A Piece Of Advise, Please?

Alright, folks.

I've been using that word a little too much lately. I think I used the word 'folks' in two of my work emails yesterday. I hope I don't get fired for that...

Anyway....

We need advice, folks. (I can't help myself).

If you've traveled to any of the places below, what sites, restaurants, gardens, quaint bridges, etc. would you recommend that we see? Pretty, pretty please... We would love to hear your recommendations.

Thanks!

London (4 days)
Scotland (2 days)
Italy (4 days)
France (4 days)
Germany (2 days)
Portugal (4 days)

I have lots of advice. First: you're missing out on the best country to visit! Spain!!! And by the looks of it, you're skipping it on purpose--jumping from France to Portugal like that!! I can give you a million reasons to visit Spain, which I'd be happy to do if you like. You guys would love it. One of the primary reasons to go there--you could talk to the people and understand them! Big plus. Really beautiful, exciting, historic, etc etc. You'd love it.
London is lovely. You'll have plenty to do there. I've never been to Scotland, but I'd love to go (take good pictures!).
Italy is really nice. Rome, of course, has a lot to see. I spent most of my time in Sicily, which I didn't regret at all. It's so well preserved, and people are living just as they have for centuries.
I've never been to Paris, but Southern France is really breathtaking. Saint Jean de Luz is really picturesque.
In Germany I only went to Hamburg, and wouldn't necessarily recommend it.
Of course you'll have plenty to see in Portugal, but don't let Blair cut your time in Lisbon. Next to Coimbra it's the most beautiful city in Portugal, and there's lots to do. Castle of São Jorge, the Lisbon Cathedral, Padrão dos Descobrimentos, Belém Tower to name a few.

Well, Italy my favorite places were Rome and Venice. Rome is awesome and you must go to the Vatican as well! Venice is just like nothing you've ever seen and it is a very romantic place to go. In France, Paris you must go to the Louvre and Notre Dame. Also, we did go down to Normandy area and went to see D-Day beach and all that. I would really recommend that. Just to be there where the American Cemetery is there and walk on that beach were that battle took place was an amazing experience. I am so Jealous and I really want to go back again someday!

If you're headed near Bavaria you're welcome to stay for free at mis padres house. For every other country it might be faster to suggest where not to go. Let me know when you get an itinerary!

In France you have to go to Paris. If you have 4 days there I would see the countryside one day and the city the other three. You must visit the Orsay, Louvre and Versailles. We spent 5 hours at Versailles and it could've been longer. I loved France and LOVED Paris. The Eiffel tower is something else.
We went to Venice and Rome when we were in Italy. We spent a day in Venice and that was good enough for us. We took a small city tour that was excellent. We then rode the train down to Rome. I loved Rome. We did the Coliseum/Forum one day, Vatican City the next, and the Pantheon and Pantheon neighborhood the next day, with a bunch of stuff in between. You will love your trip.
One more thing- we bought Rick Steve's guidebooks and they helped us plan everything. We loved them. Sorry this is so long!

Have you narrowed it down to what cities you want to see in each country? All the big cities like Paris, Rome, etc. etc. are great and there is so much to see, but I find it overwhelming and exhausting when you go from one big city to the next. I recommend going to some smaller cities for at least a day. I think you get a better feel for the people and their culture. It's also a bit more relaxing.

London: amazing city, has an awesome vibe. don't go there in December though, its madness. Definitely get on a bus tour (there's a number of them all pretty much the same price) that take you to all the touristy spots. best part is that there are tons of their bus stops that you can get on and off whenever without repaying. Listen to what the tour guide has to say, you'll get a stack of great insight, especially if they are locals. Buckingham Palace is a waste of time if you've been to Windsor Castle. Its too crowded during the changing of the guard. But its a must see. Try make it out to Windsor Castle though - more impressive! have lunch by the London Eye. very nice setting. and enjoy some roasted peanuts overlooking the Thames at night. The houses of Parliament are lit up and its magical! Don't bother with the wax museum if you've been to one in Vegas or California. Its eseentially the same, just way overpriced. Definitely check out the Tower of London, they have ice-skating rink there also which is brilliant at night. Check out Hamley's (the most awesome toy shop in the world). There are literally endless floors with toys. Really cool! Buy a boardgame there - they have typical English ones well priced that can't be found in USA and elsewhere. If you need good ol American food, there's Krispy creme's at Waterloo Station, Ben and Jerry's and Subway at Tower of London.
