Labor Day Weekend
On Friday we hopped on a train to Manhattan and explored the Museum of Modern Art. As if we needed another reason to love the red and white establishment, Target sponsors all museum entrance costs every Friday evening from 4-9 pm. We had such a fun time looking at all of the art pieces we learned about in high school and college. Blair isn't a big fan of the "nonsense art" as we call it. Nonsense art is a pile of bricks in the middle of the floor, a pink board leaning up against the wall, and similar items. (I know all of you art history majors are rolling your eyes at our ignorance right now. roll on.)
We thought it'd be funny to stand in front of a utility closet in one of the show rooms and pretend it was one of the art displays. We were sure if we just kept straight faces long enough and threw in a few intellectual comments about "what it means" we were sure to get a line behind us. Alas, we couldn't keep the giggles in long enough to draw a crowd.
We wandered the streets, sat on the sidewalk to rest my blister-infested feet, and eventually ended up at the Dessert Truck Works restaurant where we indulged our taste buds in the delectable bread pudding. Yum.
Then we came home and built a "sleepover" bed in our living room. It turns out that sleeping on pillows of various shapes and sizes isn't as comfortable as we remember. We must be getting old.
Saturday we went to the Manhattan Temple and enjoyed the peaceful, quiet time away from the noisy city.
For Labor Day we ventured to Coney Island with our Grenada buds, Vanessa & Ryan and our new friends Charity & Tim. We ate Nathan's famous hot dogs, strolled along the boardwalk and the beach, and got a good case of whiplash from the rickety 1920's Cyclone Roller-Coaster.
Check out Vanessa's face in this close up of our ride. (She's going to kill me for this). I seriously can't stop laughing every time I look at it! Plus the fact that I look like an albino q-tip in this photo makes me laugh.
